无蒂锯齿状腺瘤/息肉（SSA/p）是一种癌前病变，在某些情况下，仅依据形态学与增生性息肉（HP）鉴别困难。Hes1是Notch信号通路的下游靶点，通过调节肠细胞分化在肠发育中发挥重要作用。本研究评估SSA/p和HP中Hes1的表达模式，判断Hes1免疫染色是否有助于鉴别这两种病变。
同时研究伴细胞学异型增生的锯齿状息肉（SSA伴细胞学异型增生，管状腺瘤和传统锯齿状腺瘤）。Hes1弥漫表达于正常结肠上皮的细胞核。Hes1完全丢失或极弱表达见于本研究中的大多数SSA/p病例（58/63,92%），而HP中Hes1正常表达（35/35,%）。
伴细胞学异型增生的SSA/p中，异型增生区域呈Hes1胞质和/或核染色.息肉内管状腺瘤和传统锯齿状腺瘤Hes1染色各异，呈混合性阳性和阴性染色。我们的研究表明Hes1丢失可作为敏感和特异性标记物用于鉴别SSA/p和HP，有助于形态学具有挑战性病例的诊断。
